Be Mindful of Peanut Allergies

School Staff Member: (shaky voice) “Hi, are you the parent of [child’s name]?”

You: “Yes.” (heart pounding)

School Staff Member: “I’m from your child’s school. We administered an Epi-Pen and are in the process of transporting your child to the hospital.”

You: “What? Why? What happened?”

School Staff Member: “We believe your child was exposed to a product that contained peanuts.”

It’s every parent’s nightmare–receiving a call that your little one is on the way to the hospital. That’s the unfortunate reality some parents may face when their child is exposed to peanuts at school. Please remember no peanut, tree nuts, or nut products when making your child’s lunch or snack.
