Box Tops Turn-In Is Friday (Tomorrow): It’s Box Tops collection and submission time again. The final day for turning in your Box Tops is tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 24. We are lagging a bit behind our $1,000.00 goal for the year, so get your clipping scissors out and bring your Box Tops to the wooden collection boxes located outside of each school’s office. Thanks for helping us reach our goal, as the money raised will benefit our students at Bryant and Pattengill. Questions? Contact Jean Powell at email@example.com.
Bring the Family to Buffalo Wild Wings for Restaurant Day this Sunday: Come on out to this month’s B/P Restaurant Day at Buffalo Wild Wings (3150 Boardwalk Dr., near Briarwood Mall) from 11:00am-2:00am on Sunday, Feb. 26. Dine in or carry out, and 20% of your bill will be donated to our PTO. Please present this flyer to your server. Questions? Contact Tod Tharp at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Read-A-Thon Begins Next Week: Our annual Read-A-Thon fundraiser will run from March 3–15. It’s easy and FUN! Students ask friends and relatives to sponsor them for time spent reading. As they read, they will also earn raffle tickets for a chance to win small, daily prizes. The classroom with the highest average hours read per student at Bryant and Pattengill will each win a class party! Read-A-Thon is a major fundraiser for our paired schools, helping to fund field trips, assemblies, classroom supplies, and much more. Your child will be bringing a packet of materials home soon. We are in need of a few volunteers to visit classrooms next week and present Read-A-Thon to the students (as your schedule allows, instructions provided). If you’re able to help, please sign up here. Happy reading! Questions? Email us at email@example.com.
Go See the Ann Arbor Intervention Specialist Present : The Families Care Conference “Promoting Student Success Through Building Positive Relationships” with Special Guest Speaker, Dr. Jay Marks on March 28th, 2017, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Scarlett Middle School, 3300 Lorraine. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:00 p.m. Dr. Jay B. Marks, Ph.D. is a widely respected educator who has been in education for more than thirty years. He is an educational consultant who services all of Oakland County Schools. He is considered an expert in the areas of Closing the Achievement Gap, Differentiated Instruction, Student Engagement, and Urban Education. Community resources and partners will be available to interact with parents, students, and staff.
Help Wanted: Volunteer Opportunities: Disability Awareness Workshop- Volunteers Needed On March 16! “Can you imagine what it would be like to push a wheelchair through the snow?” The Disability Awareness Workshop (DAW) is a one-day program to teach an empathetic understanding of physical, developmental, and learning disabilities. We are proud to once again offer this powerful experience for our 4th graders! This event is a chance to make a difference in your community. To staff this event, 23 parent volunteers are needed for our Pattengill workshop the morning of March 16. Volunteers are needed at several hands-on stations: vision, hearing, speech, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and building accessibility. No experience working with people with disabilities is necessary. Lunch is provided for all volunteers. To sign up, please click here: https://goo.gl/forms/ZyotM3GmNQv6SBG62. Please support this important experience for our kids, and be a part of the DAW team! Questions? Contact DAW Co-Coordinators: Jaime Moore – firstname.lastname@example.org or Xan Morgan – email@example.com.
Event and Activity Volunteer Sign-Up: The PTO offers many fun and educational activities for students and families, and we need YOU to help make them possible. Please browse the 2016-2017 Bryant/Pattengill Volunteer Sign-up for an opportunity(ies) that interest you. Thank you!
Event Sponsor Opportunities: If you are a business owner (or have a special connection with one) and are interested in sponsoring a B/P PTO event, please contact our Fundraising Coordinator, Amanda Shutko, at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will be pleased to share information about upcoming events, sponsorship opportunities, options in finding the right fit for your business’ interests and capabilities, and the various ways the PTO can recognize your support to our 700+ school community! We would welcome the opportunity to partner with your business and share our appreciation with our “two schools, one commUNITY!”
Interested In Seeing an A2 Symphony Orchestra Concert? Because of the generosity of the A2 Symphony Orchestra, there is an opportunity for some of our Bryant families to attend the Peter and the Wolf concert at the Michigan Theater on Sunday, April 9, at 4pm. If you are a family who receives free lunch, and you are interested in attending, please email Principal Heyward at email@example.com. There will be three tickets per family and tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Visit the Ann Arbor PTO Thrift Shop: Located at 2280 S. Industrial Hwy., the PTO Thrift Shop supports our schools and students. Shop, donate, and support AAPS!
